President Welcome

Welcome to Waterford!

Greetings and welcome to the Village of Waterford and to our new cutting edge, state-of-the-art website. If Waterford isn't your home, we sure hope it will be soon! And by scanning this electronic billboard, hopefully, it makes you feel like you are at home. Please remember, whatever the case may be, you and  your family are always welcome to visit!

I am honored to be the Village President for these past four years after serving as a Trustee on the Village Board for ten years.

Without apologizing for my bias, Waterford is simply a great place to live, work, and play, regardless of how you size it up.

It is not metropolitan you may say! Physically, perhaps, but in proximity, it certainly IS, because it is conveniently located thirty minutes from Milwaukee or Racine and one hour north of Chicago. That means, with county and state highways crossing Village borders, Waterford residents can often motor to venues in either city faster than the natives.

However, metropolitan is not the issue here, rather it is a quality of life that is most important and the reason more than 5,000 people have taken up resident in the Village of Waterford.

The Village of Waterford, settled in the early 1800s and incorporated in 1906, boasts of extraordinary schools, dynamic and energized civic organizations (fueled by an unyielding sense of volunteerism), solid and deep-rooted (late 19th century) churches, a strong, open and responsive government, and innovative, growing business environment.

Above all, Waterford people are neighborly and friendly, and quick to offer up a warm smile or a helping hand.

The aforementioned may be the ever-present square meal on the Village's plate, but without a doubt, the number of events, activities and outings hosted in Waterford, is its civic dessert.

Waterford public schools are always among the top in Racine County, and our high school recently was named 51st in the United States! A private Catholic school rounds out education in the Village, setting students on a good path to the future.

Excellent schools lend themselves to a strong foundation for Waterford, but its civic organizations are its unequivocal lifeblood. The Chamber of Commerce with over 225 members, seems to be the swizzle stick of many Village activities -- sponsoring the annual BalloonFest hot air balloon event, the Home Show, Fall Fest, and as a charter sponsor of the exceedingly popular River Rhythms summer riverfront concert series. In addition, it hosts the Full Moon Four Mile Run, one of the few statewide competitive evening running events.

Absolutely Waterford heads up the Village's downtown revitalization efforts as a member of the state and national Main Street programs. Although the organization works collaboratively with the Chamber of Commerce, it's efforts focus on the downtown Heritage District, working to retain the historic charm of the Village. The  organization hosts the Rivers Edge Art Walk, the Winter Wonderland Parade, and the seasonal farmer's market, River Market.

The Waterford Lions and Lioness clubs work in conjunction with nearly every event held in the Village when they are not hosting their own annual Chicken Barbecue or the 4th of July parade, which attracts thousands of enthusiastic parade lovers.

Thanks again for your interest in our community and if I've whet your appetite to learn more about Waterford you can start with me at Village Hall, 123 N. River St, 262-534-3980. I would enjoy sharing more of the many great attributes of our village. You might also consider checking in with the Chamber of Commerce, 102 E. Main St, 262-534-5911.

I'd like to close with a sentiment that I think sums up how our residents feel about their hometown,

                                             Waterford- where life's qualities flow!
