Do not rake leaves into the street when clearing yards. DPW crews do not have equipment to pick them up. Leaves can cause problems with drainage, create slippery when wet conditions for pedestrians and vehicles. These problems are compounded when snow falls. Bring leaves and other yard waste to the Yard Waste drop off site at 801 Ela Ave in the industrial park. It is open from April through November on alternating Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 8 a.m. to noon. Collection days are expanded to every Saturday for October and November. A permit is required and can be purchased for $20 and proof of residency at Village Hall.
Brush CollectionWeather permitting, limbs from residential yard work are collected and chipped on Monday of the same week that recyclables are picked up. Limbs may be no larger than 5" in diameter and must be neatly stacked in piles no larger than 4' high x 4' wide x 8' long with cut ends facing the curb. At no time can the brush piles obstruct the sidewalk. In order to be efficient, the time limit per stop will not exceed 15 minutes. Stack properly and plan your trimming accordingly. For more efficiency, provide walking space around each pile to allow crews to maneuver easily and chip as much as possible at each stop. Leaves and grass clippings will not be picked up and should not be raked into the street. Yard waste in cans or barrels will not be chipped or collected and should be brought to the drop-off site.
